Electric AI Service/Repair

Hi,

Where, other than the manufacturer, can I send a Falcon electric AI for service/repair? I don't think that the gyro is spinning fast enough and consequently it needs repeated caging in flight to realign it.

I suspect that it may need to have the bearings replaced.

Thanks,

Kevin

Hi Kevin,
My first call would be to Mike Hutchinson at Shobdon. The last number I had for him was 01568-708368

If the flag is showing, it is line voltage - check that 1st. These Chinese instruments are very much built to a price and they do need a good voltage to get them going.

After saying that, they do operate well, they just don't last very long.

The flag is not appearing and the supply is good. The 3 phase 400Hz drive signal to the motor is also good. I suspect that there is a mechanical problem. The unit looks nicely made inside with reasonable quality components.

I have noticed that it sounds different now compared to when it was working correctly. I certainly doesn't sound like it is spinning as fast as it used to.
