Brazing/ Silver soldering

To finish off the small fabricated turnbuckles for the tailplane section, I need to silver solder(term used in my drawings) about 16 small steel "cushion plates"/washers ( 1/2" x 1/2" x 0.062" 4130N steel) inside the fittings.
I would normally have this done by a local approved welder, but wondered if this time consuming but simple job is one that I could tackle myself, provided of course that my inspector would be agreeable.
If so, could anyone recommend a suitable torch or kit, bearing in mind that the mass of metal to be heated is very small? I already have propane bottles and Skamolex hearth blocks etc.
I have read various tracts on brazing (silver soldering as well), but practical advice would be appreciated.
My only experience so far has been ordinary soldering on various model aircraft.
