Chonometric tacho, Auster rpm indicator

Post by Terry Lee » Sun Jul 18, 2010 2:21 pm

Is there any one on here who has any knowledge of the above. In my Terrier I have a direct cable driven one, a mk16 made by ss&s ltd of london. It started behaving erratically, so having got it apart the problem was obvious, a locking screw had come loose allowing a bearing race that takes up end movement on the shaft to turn in, thus allowing a number of ball bearings to escape. I reassembled it taking great care and understood how it works.

Problem is; now back in the aircraft it's over reading by up to 300 rpm and I can't see any means of carrying out any adjustments to the instrument! doe's any one have any suggestions please?

ps, there is no problem with either the cable or the drive gear off the engine.
