Sindlinger Hurricane HH-1

Post by Jim Hargrave » Wed Jul 28, 2010 3:50 pm

With the obvious interest in scale Warbirds, I just wondered if anyone knows why the Sindlinger 5/8th scale Hurricane never caught on, as the general appearance of it looks very good indeed. The other thing was, that when all the design was finished it was checked over by Aeronautical Structual Engineers who gave it a big 'thumbs up' - with no design issues at all, fully endorcing the 4.4g stress limits. It's even got a purpose designed retracting u/c.

The LAA did have it on their list of approved a/c until quite recently I believe, now relegating the status to 'Abandoned' since none of the projects were ever completed. The last one still on the books looks like it has been abandoned too, which is a great, great pity.

One reason may have been the need to fit a flat 4 150HP which spoiled the scale appearance with cheek bulges, but now there is a selection of inline auto engines which will do very nicely within the scale lines - the Honda 125HP in particular from Firewall Forward in the States being a good contender.

So is there anyone out there who is interested in the Sindlinger HH-1 as well as me to possibly get something going?. If so please get in touch:- [email protected]
