VW sparkplug cutter replacement wanted.

Post by cardiffrob » Sat Mar 29, 2008 9:58 am

Not really a 'sales and wants' post.

I've got most of the way through remaking the kit for cutting the extra sparkplug hole into VW heads. I need to get the 1" flat faced cutter that gets pulled inwards to cut the recess for the sparkplug and socket to go into. It is drawn through from the piston side of the head via an 8mm drawbar that is threaded through the new (untapped, as yet) plug hole.
I believe it is called something like a 'reverse spot facer tool'

Now....can anyone tell me where to get one or...how to machine one up?

The item on the furthest right hand side.

Thanks, Mike. No reply on saturday so I'll try again on monday.

Has anyone else tried cutting their own VW heads recently? I've discovered that the ACRO heads are cut at a different angle to the Peacock drawings. Makes it a lot easier to cut the plug seat using the ACRO method. It leaves more meat on the head but risks cutting into the rocker area and leaking but a quick weld would fix it up.
