Can anyone recommend a good instrument repairer? I have an altimeter which is reading a couple of hundred feet too high.

You could try Mike Hutchinson (Glider Instruments) at Shobdon on 01568 708368. I have heard good reports of him.

Some altimeters have a keep plate under the setting knob. If you remove the plate, you can pull out the knob and adjuct the altitude without changing the pressure setting (or vice-versa, I can't remember).

If it's out more than a small amount, it probably means the capsule is leaking and in need of more serious attention.

Thanks guys. The subscale is out and the adjuster is very stiff so I think it could do with a clean and lubricate. I'll send it to Mike Hutchinson.
