Drilling VW heads in the UK

Post by cardiffrob » Tue Nov 23, 2010 10:23 am

Does anyone still do it? I know someone after a set of heads for "less than the price of a small villa in France", ie home-machined.

Does anyone have a complete jig?

PS Ron, have you still got that head of mine from last year? Did you ever get anywhere with it?

Cheers

Rob

Hmmm. From what he has said, that might be too expensive. I think he has enough heads to work with, just not enough holes for plugs!

Does seem a good price, though.

Great Plains advertise that they will machine your heads for $55 - not sure if that for a pair. http://www.greatplainsas.com/sccylheads.html

I expect shipping may beef up the cost though.

I was going to suggest you ask Bary Smith at Acro as was the man for vw a while back and I got the impression he may still help. http://www.acro.co.uk/ however I was sure that I'd read a similar post a while back which was yours on a similar subject http://www.lightaircraftassociation.co. ... =head+plug
