Does anyone know what the latest on this?
Website has been down for a while and I understand those that have contacted Henry by email have not had a response.

Ian, the site was working a couple of weeks ago: I was looking through it for something on it then...though the week before that it had been down for some days. I might have a phone number in the office -- will let you know next week.

Does anyone know if the Leburg system could be used on a chopped in half VW engine

Given that 2 plugs fire at the same time with the Leburg ignition (wasted spark method, like some Fords and a lot of motorbikes) then I would expect you would be able to.
Are we talking of a real chopped one here, or one that has the full case and crank but just two cylinders? If it is a chopped one you might need the separate pickup version of the ignition rather than the integral one for fitting on the back of the VW, unless you can put the alternator arrangement on the back of the conversion.

I fancy chopping the case in half just for the experience, although there is not all that much weight advantage in doing so, apparently.

The chop is probably for compactness, rather than weight, I would imagine. By the time you have come up with a new method of engine mounting, welding plates over holes etc. that would probably put back most of the weight saved.
