digital instruments in permit autogyro

Post by tony168 » Tue Mar 08, 2011 12:56 pm

Hi, Total newbe question which must have been answered many times before ( but I can't find it!) ....
I would like to replace an old instrument panel in my single-seat autogyro using MGL's digital gauges (individuals, not a glass panel).
Is it mandatory for this type of electrically powered digital gauge to be backed up with a passive analog gauge, (in which case I won't bother since there isn't room) or is it OK to rely on them as only means of data?
Kind regards, Anthony Morgan

Hi Tony, my guess, but only a guess, is that you will need back up non electronic ASI, altimeter and compass in case the electronics go down. that is the usual requirement for aeroplanes fitted with glass cockpits. However it would be worth contacting Engineering to ask because gyros might not have to comply. Ring 01280 846786, select option 1 and ask away.
