Old fuel

Hi Peeps.

We're re-activating a GY 201 Gardan Minicab which hasn't been flown for 12 years. It's got about 12 gallons of LL100 in the tank. Must we drain and dump this fuel or could it still be ok after all that time?

Best wishes,

Mort

Dump it! (Or use it for degreasing stuff.) You're going to need, I would think, to drain and clean out the fuel tank anyway after 12 years, aren't you?

Dump it, just aint worth the risk
Or you could stick it in the mower

You are not really going to "dump it" I am sure, but dispose of it in the aproved manner!

Yep - just like the airliners do.

Does highlight a difference between Mogas and Avgas.
I'd expect 12 gallons of mogas to have evaporated in the meantime (leaving a nasty goo behind!). Even if some had remained I'd doubt the engine would start on it.

Drain it but keep it and use it for cleaning purposes.

Just had an email from FROST about some stuff called Ethomix. It says it prevents the nasty effects of Ethanol (gum/corrosion etc) on engines and fuel lines.

I've not tried it but thought it might be of interest.
