Stromberg carbs

Post by Paul Turner » Thu Apr 26, 2012 11:25 am

Can anyone suggest a source for refurbed or replacement carb for a Continental A75 (currently Stromberg NA-S3B)
I'm running out of ideas as engine been cutting out at idle after landing and refusing to start until rested for 5 mins- definately not carb icing or electrics. Carb fully cleaned in ultrasonic bath and filters replaced!

Any thoughts much appreciated,
Cheers
Paul

Paul, this sounds familiar. I had the same problem with the Stromberg in the A65 some years ago and resolved it by a combination of slightly enriching the idle mixture and increasing the idle throttle setting from 550 to 600 rpm.

Paul.
Take a look at http://www.bowersflybaby.com/tech/engines.htm
Some Stromberg information and following link to Harry Fenton's Engine Advice.
Most Stromberg Carb bits can be got from Fresno Air Parts in California.
Great service and pricing.
Mikes advice very pertinent too.
