has anybody got a copy of the instructions for replacing the battery in a Skymap 111c gps?

No official instructions other than what it says in the manual ie , predictibly, take it to your local Bendix King dealer. Not !!

I did this little job on a IIIc a couple of years ago. I didn't find any instructions but the back room boys at Mendelssohns pilot shop are helpful if you get stuck.

The job would have been quite straight forwards if it had not been for an excess of silicon sealer applied to a cluster of capacitors to prevent them from fatiguing their leads due to vibration. The excess goop had bonded the capacitors to the front of the case/edge of the lcd display, unfortunately the capacitors were soldered into a circuit board which was attached to the back half of the case, the screws fixing the circuit board to the back cannot be undone until the case is apart...

Catch 22.

After much "easing" and wiggling I prized the case open. Then the job was a doddle, just check the polarity of the old battery before you remove it, the pcb is not marked. The battery is soldered in.

I replaced the battery on mine about 18 months ago and I found the job not too bad at all. Once the case was open it was simply a job of removing one board which then exposed the battery. 30 minutes later I had saved myself over £60.
