VW engine mount rubber bushings
Hi Folks
I have a split rubber bush on one the engine mounts for my VW powered COLIBRI. There are 8 bushes in total and these seem to be made from hardened rubber. They have a hole in the middle for a steel pipe insert to take the engine mount bolts.
I cannot seem to find anywhere who sells somethings similar to these. The Continental ones I have seen are bigger and do not have the same size.
Does anyone know where I might source something similar for the VW? I have tried Pete Smoothy at Airworld but so far he has not come up with anything.
Thanks

Hi,
a picture might help. You can't attach them here, but if you upload one to photobucket or similar and provide a link it might help identify it. Am wondering if it is perhaps some type of automotive void bush?

Colin,
Try http://www.martins-rubber.co.uk/. I think Ron Souch uses them and I got them to supply some plain rubber rings for my tailwheel shock. All you need is to produce a drawing and specify the hardness.
Cheers,
Dave

Hello Tony,
Great Plains have bushes on their site:
http://www.greatplainsas.com/scengmounts.html
The Great Plains mounts look the same as the early Continental bushes (A65/C85) which LAS have on their site (part no SA22387)

Hope this helps
Phil

Hi Tony
I have just noticed that they also look like the Lycoming bushes stocked by LAS (part no SL71032)
http://www.lasaero.com/site/products/ar ... =Z049DX7FP
Perhaps give LAS a call with some dimensions?
Phil
