Dual oil pressure indication on Rotax 912S

Post by 2greens1red » Sun Sep 15, 2013 11:38 am

We'll be utilising a MGL EFIS/EMS (see: http://goo.gl/7XvrdK ) and wanted to preserve a low oil pressure indication (preferably gauge and/or warning light) on the Rotax 912S in case we have an EMS failure.

Could anyone suggest a simple way of achieving this?

Hi
You could change the std VDO OP sensor supplied to one with additional 'With Warning Contact ' functionality, wired to illuminate a separate Low Oil Pressure warning light ie see pages 10 /11 or page 16 /17

http://www.partsforaircraft.co.uk/downl ... 20info.pdf

Or you could use the std VDO sender supplied and tee a separate std OP low warning switch into the OP line wired as above see page 22 /23

Many thanks, Steve - that's appreciated.

I realise that it's probably considered unnecessary, but, in theory, are there any other Rotax engine parameters we can simultaneously monitor on a standby instrument if the EMS fails? That is, beside RPM and Oil Pressure. Fuel pressure, for instance?

We were planning to use another item of MGL kit: http://goo.gl/VhPwWk to achieve this.
