Coax cables

Post by tnowak » Tue Jul 15, 2008 5:50 pm

For those installing Mode S transponders (or radios) I have found a UK based company that makes up coax cables to your own specification at very reasonable cost. Also, the cables can be ordered on-line using a very simple and intuitive web ordering process (no minimum order charge).

A good selection of coax and connectors is available. They don’t stock Aircell 5 (recommended by some Mode S transponder manufacturers) but have some that come very close. The LBC195 coax loss is 0.3856dB/metre at 1000 MHz.
For long cable runs then LBC240 would probably be better as it is lower loss (0.2619db/metre at 1000MHz), however it is thicker than LBC195.

Web address is: http://www.gigatronix.co.uk/default.php ... c=assembly

If anyone needs some advice as to what to order please contact me.

By the way, I have no connection whatsoever with Gigatronix.
