Avid Hauler wing tips

Post by jefecox » Sun Aug 09, 2015 5:48 am

Having just acquired a lovely Avid Hauler with a Jabby 2200, the previous owner told me that it was basically a Speedwing with wing extensions...the info on the web does not answer my question which is.....can the extensions be removed easily and what, if any benefit would I gain/lose?? It looks like the extensions a literally "bolted on"
I would like to eek out a few more knots....going to convert it back to a tailwheel for a start as its a bit gay with a nosewheel. Any other tips to increase its airspeed?

I can't help much, other than to say that having recently bought a Speedwing with a Jab 2200 engine we can compare performance notes. I'm actually thinking about aquiring/building a set of STOL wings at some point as I'm more interested in going slowly than fastly. Obviously I won't actually be talking to you until you remove the nosewheel. ;)
