Hello,
Apologies if I have missed an earlier thread - a quick search didn't show anything.
Despite Vans not having released the final finishing kits, quite a few RV-14 builds are now progressing in the US.
Has anyone started the process of adding the RV-14 to the LAA approved list? How was the process for previous Vans types? I understand the RV-10 was more challenging to approve as a 4-seater. If that was doable, surely this will be too?
Many thanks,
Johannes

Re: Vans RV-14
Good evening Johannes,
There's something of the chicken and egg about getting acceptance of a new design because until after the successful flight test of the first UK specimen it won't appear on our approved list. However, there is a technical leaflet on the process at: http://www.lightaircraftassociation.co. ... craft.html
Van's Aircraft has a good reputation with the LAA and I don't doubt it would be plain sailing to get the -14 through the process.
Best wishes and happy riveting,
Harry Hopkins

Thanks Harry,
Vans report (on the vansairforce forum) they have completed the pack of compliance data, so hopefully its easy!
I foolheartedly embarked on the ATPL theory exams, so don't have any time to start building just yet ... but once that is out the way in the new year I will be in touch to register a new project and start the process of approving the -14.
