Hello All,
Where are you builders obtaining your .025" 6061-T6 in UK?
I bought my original alloy for my plans build from Aircraft Spruce some years ago. However I've run out of .025"

with just a 4' x 2' piece required to finish. Seems daft to fly one half way around the world if I can source a piece nearer to home. Does anyone know of a supplier in the Midlands? Or does anyone have some spare for sale?, I need 2 x 2' x 2' pieces of 6061-T6 .025" thickness.
Many thanks, Andrew. (Plans building a Ch701).

Thanks for the link Welshman.
I have contacted them for a quote. I had heard mention of a company in Reading that sold to homebuilders but didn't know the name. I believe this must be that firm.
Regards, Andrew.

TW metals of Southampton have proved to be the cheapest in my searches. A full sheet of what you want would be around ?50 if they can tag it on to another import. Whether they'd have a small piece kicking around though? May be worth a try?
I don't have the number on me, but I've got it from directory services before.

This camaraderie is most welcome and useful, free helpful advice from fellow aviators, brilliant.
Many thanks.

Have you tried PFA Metals? I have used them and they seem to be efficient (they also give a bit of discount to PFA members - I don't know if that extends to LAA-LAAs)

Information given on another forum indicates that there are a few questions I need to ask any supplier of aviation grade materials (i.e. 6061T6).
What paper work do I need to request from the suppliers to provide an audit to LAA engineering satisfaction?
Do I need to be sure that the supplier is au-fait with aviation procedures and standards. In particular regarding transit damage?
Cheers
Ian Melville
