A friend needs a couple of Slick 4301 mags overhauled. Has anyone got recent experience of overhaul services they'd recommend?

Hi Mike, tell your friend to be careful over cost, I have heard of people who end up spending more on overhaul that they could have bought replacement mags for.
When we had a number of us needing to check our mags at Farthing Corner, we bought overhaul kits from Aircraft Spruce and an inspector came up one Saturday and we had a Magneto Love-in. We re-packed the bearings with grease (supplied in the kit) rather than replaced the races, but otherwise did the full job. Worked a treat and gave peace of mind. I have no doubt many people out there have been flying behind the same untouched mags for years, they're one of those 'black art' components but really don't need to be.

Graham Keel of Hants Light Plane Services, Chilbolton, is very knowledgeable and can advise.
He overhauled a similar Slick model for me last year.

Thanks both. I thought there might have been a few more suggestions but perhaps the majority of mag overhaul experiences can't be recommended!?
