Hi,

I am looking to replace my Funke ATR500 radio fitted to a MTOSport gyro and have been inform that Rotorsport only approve the Funke ATR833 radio. This is great if you only store 2 frequencies, however I use nearly all the 9 memories available to me in the ATR500 as I preload the frequencies I will (or may) use as part of the flight preparation as it is one more in air distraction removed.

So can anyone recommend a replacement radio for the Funke ATR500 which has at least 9 frequency memories?

The Trig TY91 has 9 memory frequencies, fits a 2.25" panel opening and has very good reports.

ATR833S has 20 memories and is billed as the replacement for ATR500.

In the process of fitting one in our Vagabond now.

Not only does the ATR8.33 from Funke have programable memories, it also remembers the last 10 frequencies used.

I have tried to fit funke 833 and 833S radios in my Rotorsport MT-03 and have had to get refunds on both. There are all sorts of problems that nobody is able to resolve (Rotorsport an LX Avionics aren't doing much to get to help).
I don't know if I am allowed to fit a Dittel 833 radio which seems to be a better piece of kit altogether.
The whole 833 matter has been an expensive fiasco. £500 of helmet upgrades hasn't helped one jot so Flycom don't have the solution.

What sort of problems are you experiencing? Physical fit, electrical or headset issues?
I am surprised that an aircraft manufacturer has a say in what radios can be approved for installation, but perhaps regulations are different for gyros?
