Vision microsystems problem
I am quoting a friend's query, as so far he has had no joy.
"VM 1000 has been installed in the Husky for 11 years with no problems.
Recently, the RPM indicator started to move back and forth for a time but subsequently sorted itself out - for a week or two - now I have no RPM indication at all.
Everything else works but th tacho side is stuck on "Engine operating hours" which do not update with the engine running.
Does anyone know anyone who can suggest a fix? My maintenance company have no real experience with this system."
Many thanks,
CC

Re: Vision microsystems problem
Has the system got an Internal Battery to keep system settings?
Maybe that is degrading?

Re: Vision microsystems problem
Information passed on, thank you. I have no idea about the battery. Some googling did produce some possible causes on the JP Instruments website, rather tucked away, so I've passed them on too.
I think he's after a fixer as much as a fix, as so far he's not found anyone - and doesn't like using internet forums.
I'm glad I have a very simple aeroplane!

Re: Vision microsystems problem
I couldn't find an Official Vision Microsystems mender. An electronics fettler might spot his predigament and offer to tinker.
I too fly a simple aircraft but have the advantage of being a simple pilot too!

Re: Vision microsystems problem
VM doesn't seem to exist anymore, at least not under that name and domain and JPI has no UK agents, so yes, a good avionics person, but that (possibly) was his question to me to start with. I may have to restart this from another angle!
My aeroplane flies at about 85mph, my brain, well, sometimes it catches up...
