Wiring up headset jacks

Post by TonyRoddam » Tue Nov 05, 2019 5:37 pm

Hi,
Can anyone point me to some clear (and idiot proof) instructions on how to wire up microphone/headset jacks that go a little bit further than just a circuit diagram?
Also, recommendations for decent books on aircraft electrics would be gratefully accepted.
Many thanks,
Tony

First tip is you will need a large tipped soldering iron if you plan on soldering wires onto regular US style phone and mic jacks.

The LAA run aircraft wiring courses which may help you. Not sure when the next one is scheduled.

Anything specific you are planning on doing?

This publication is exceptionally good, and the author Bob Nuckolls regularly contributes to the Matronics Forum on Aeroelectrics, another great site that will provide answers to most of your questions.
