Availability of Aerowave 2001

Has anyone had any issues recently with purchasing Aerowave2001 primer?

I am part way through my build of a Sling2 taildragger and need more primer plus what little I have left is about to come to the end of its shelf life. I don't want to have to change primers half way through the build.

I have tried both UK suppliers Silmid and Pexar and both are reluctant to sell this product to private users even though it is for legitimate end usage (aircraft construction). It appears this is due to the new EU REACH regulations which came into full force at the start of this year.

Any suggestions?

Don't bother....

Swap to Tetrosyl Etch Prime and save yourself a whole chunk of money for an equally good product.

If you want something with an aeroplane name on it, the 2 part - not 2 pack product that LAS sells is the same (Tetrosyl said so :mrgreen: )

I think Mike has a point .

Acquiring aircraft paints is a jungle , especially primers . Not made any easier by the fact that the large paint manufacturers all have their specific approval codes tied in with the aircraft manufacturer’s certification process . The unfortunate upshot of all this is , if you’re buying for a PtF type , then you’re paying an absolute fortune for loads of paperwork that you do not need .

@ Paul , the OP . Please accept my apologies as this does absolutely nothing to resolve your problem . Although , if you are working through the paint scheme in a modular fashion , then it’s not unrealistic [for the covered-in sections at least] to use different manufacturer sources .

I believe that Mike is one of them RV’er type blokes . So he may well have some good advice there somewhere . Let’s face it , out of the millions of RV’s on the UK register , how often do you see a scruffy one ...
