New Project

Post by Griffin99 » Tue Jul 14, 2020 3:57 pm

Hi all, I'm a new PPL and have an opportunity to buy a partially completed kit from the states. It's my first choice platform and is within my price range. It is second hand and never been completed so never flown. What does the LAA require me to do once I get it imported? Does anyone have any advice / lessons learned? Will I have to pay import tax for example? How do I get it registered? Who undertakes the inspections and at what point in the build?

Any help is appreciated.
Regards
Lee

Hi Lee,

As a start I would suggest reading the TIL here on imported aeroplanes. Is the aeroplane you are looking at one for which the LAA has already accepted the type?

No doubt someone will be along shortly who can answer your other questions.
