Kitfox II bungees

Post by Pagintheair » Sun Apr 04, 2021 10:37 am

Hi,
I am new to microlight flying, and have bought G-BPKK.
I wish to replace the bungees. Kitfox want me to pay c£150 postage!
I can source bungee cord, but cannot find anyone in the UK who can ferrule the loops - can anybody help?
Also, can friction lock throttle cables be replaced?

Can you use safety wire like the Avid guys use?

If the bungee mounts allow, look at winding on thinner long bungee cord to obtain tension and CSA of the original cord to mimic it's characteristics. And make off the ends with non slip knots as convenient ?
Looser wire check straps as per eg Escapade can save you prop. should the suspect bungees give way.

My Renegade had bungees that were whipped into loops.
If that's acceptable you could try yacht chandlers/riggers - it's pretty standard sailing practice.
I did my own FWIW. I did do quite a few tests before I was happy though !

Thanks to all who have made helpful suggestions.
I have managed to find someone who will manufacture and provide certification - all for under £80.00 - Ibex Marinas in Bury.

Thread resurrection alert.

Off the top of your head can you recall the length/diameter of the bungees?

TIA.

Hi Paul. I am horrified to see that you sent a follow up message from last October, and I failed to reply - I only go to this site when I am stuck for something, and having concluded last time, I only looked again today.
Did you get fixed up?
If not I can send details.
