Anyone for a project?

Post by Ian Hoolahan » Sun May 30, 2021 7:45 am

Unfortunately the undercarraige on our Marquart Charger gave way on landing a coule of weeks ago and the insurance is writing her off as rebuild costs are expected to be over the insured value of £40k. Most of this cost (apart from the engine shockload) is labour so would be really nice if someone were to buy the wreck for rebuild - non of the group being builders! This was not a hard landing but appears the suspension had corroded and was hanging by a thread, so the result was a fairly gentle sink to the ground as it collapsed. Damage as far as we can tell is:-
Fuselage (metal tube) damage limited to where the suspension broke away plus recover
Left wing spar and leading Edge
Right wing leading edge
Prop
Engine shock load (engine about 550 hrs in good condition and both mags recently oh) wooden prop only just touched and engine at idle so hopefully no real damage.
This is a lovely aircraft to fly and was built to a stronger spec than standard so is cleared to a higher max AUW allowing two large people plus full main fuel (60L) to aero.
