Dynavibe GX3 for use by LAA members.

Would it be a good idea for the LAA to purchase a Dynavibe GX3 which could be rented out to members?

Sounds like a good idea to me. I would be interested in renting one.

The Smart Avionics PB-4 is much cheaper and more than good enough for LAA aircraft.
But where would it stop, there is much specialised equipment that would be great to have access to, and then the LAA would have to employ someone to manage the coming and going of the equipment, and then there would have to be insurance to cover loss or damage of the equipment AND every item would have to be safety checked before sending out again.
I think it's beyond the remit of the LAA and would be better handled by struts themselves.

One of the type-owner clubs purchased the PB-1 for use by its members.
Then its Board decided that this was "too dangerous" for members to use (although presumably accepting as part of its raison-d'etre that the members were safe enough to build and operate aeroplanes).
Like a good camera (or spraygun), the PB-1 needs skill to get the best from it.
