New SN from CAA
http://publicapps.caa.co.uk/modalapplic ... il&id=9511
Can in my opinion be read to indicate we must use "released" parts/components in our permit a/c.
Does anyone else read it like that?

I read it as applying to C of A aircraft plus those aircraft directly on a CAA permit and not permit aircraft operated under the LAA.

Could be wrong of course!!

The majority of aircraft to which this Safety Notice applies will be on a Permit to Fly.
CAA Permit to Fly or LAA Permit to Fly. Clear as mud
The LAA and BMAA are BCAR A8-26 Hence inclusive in the document.

I wonder if anyone from LAA engineering could give a definitive answer?

I have just emailed engineering for their comments and clarification. But having just read the SN it certainly looks as it does apply to LAA type aircraft. Which would put as spanner in the works to say the least.

Still no reply. I have chased this up a couple of times now. I got a reply back from the BMAA the day after contacting them.

I got a reply last week "I believe the CAA Safety Notice is produced not just with LAA Permit to Fly aircraft in mind but ‘Permit to Fly aircraft’ in general, which includes CAA Permits to Fly". Carry on as usual!!
