Hello, on reading Technical leaflet 2, it would appear that date shifting only applies to moving the existing permit revalidation forward in months as in the example given from August to November. There appears no restriction to moving this earlier, e.g.if the current permit expires in July and the owners want to get it out of the way earlier in the year, would they just complete and submit all three forms when it suited them say in April and just lose a few months of validity on the existing permit???

Or,

Revalitate your permit 1 month prior to its expiry and your next expiry date remains unchanged so no loss of flying.
i.e. Permit expires 1st August 2024, get all the paperwork off to the LAA in July and your next expiry will be on 1st August 2025.
So if you time it right you can get a max of 13 months.

I think the advice in this thread is wrong. There is no penalty or loss for moving your permit to an earlier date. You do not lose any months of validity. You can revalidate a month early but that is standard. You can also change the date by bringing the inspection forward so you can do the work when it suits you…..

Say you permit your aircraft in 1 August 25 (so it expires in 1 Aug 26) but you would rather move your future maintenance and inspections to November. By 1 November 25, do the inspection and permit application following the procedure in TL 2.0 page 3. You have already paid for 12 months of permit from August so in November you only need to pay for another 3 months to take you through to 1 November 26. Work out the amount due and insert in the form as per TL 2.0 and pay. The LAA will issue you a new 12-month permit.

You may have incurred personal costs in doing the permit earlier, but you will not lose any validity and there will be no extra payment to the LAA. Make sure you meet all the dates required for permit application.
