Primer paint for small steel fittings

Post by Ian Law » Fri Sep 06, 2024 7:45 pm

Any recommendations appreciated for sources of small amounts of epoxy primer or an etch primer, for several remade 4130N fittings ( external shackles & "lugs " within the wing rigging on a small biplane? )

I have run out of my LAS Chromate acid etch which has served me very well. Replacement from LAS now way too expensive and no longer cost effective; most would end up thrown away. It is also unhealthy without a proper mask although it can be brushed on with care.

All my Klass Kote epoxy top coat paint is now out of date but replacement is not a problem.

Ian, for small fittings I've used U-Pol Acid#8

Many thanks Mike and I'll certainly try U- Pol acid #8.

Regards.
