12v Fuel Pumps

I have had an problem with the Facet 12v fuel pump - I have had three become unserviceable in just 170 hours of flying (and the pump is not on all the time). It is mounted on its side but I wouldn't have thought that would be an issue. In any case the 40108 seems to be unavailable now.

I assume other people find these reliable as they seem to be widely used. Does anyone have any suggestions for why three should go so quickly? If anyone knows a good alternative I would be happy to change?

Which model has failed you 3 times?
And it what way have they become "unserviceable"?

It's the Facet 40108 and it simply ceases to pump. I have noticed that it becomes a lot more noisy shortly before failure.

Are you using the sealed metal fuel filter that screws in to the pump inlet? If so have you cut one open to see if it is clogged?
Those filters are non serviceable, and should not be used. I filter that can be opened and inspected for debris should be used. If you are collecting debris that is blocking the pump inlet filter or pump then you need to ascertain exactly where the contaminant is coming from and eliminate it.
These pumps are normally very reliable.
