Continental A-65 - Thrust washers?

Post by Ian Law » Fri Feb 01, 2008 7:50 pm

Can anyone help with advice on a source of thrust washers for a well used A-65, with a crankshaft that has been taken down to - 20 thou.

During a re-building session the other night, we discovered that our new washers ( regret I don't have the part number right now ) were clearly the wrong profile and were unsuitable. All the commonly available types of washer of which we are aware seem to have the wrong "flange"/ profile or cross section to fit properly against the bevelled edges of the front bearing housing in the crankcase. The type we need has a small pin that locates in a cavity to prevent rotation of the washers, but would sit snugly against the face of the housing and locate against the bevelled edge.

Any suggestions would be very welcome!
