Tailwheel differences training

Am I able to carry out my tailwheel differences training on an Acrosport 2 with an instructor current on type if I am a shareholder in the aircraft? As I understand, I am not able to get my own insurance until 10 hours on type has been completed so we would be flying on the instructors insurance as he flies the aircraft regularly anyway

Handy, Mike. Thanks I read that on the CAA circulation list but lost it again.

It does make it clear that no pilot maintenance can have been carried out since the last inspection unless signed off - which presumably means if your group has done a 50-hour oil change etc, that must be signed off by the appropriate engineering authority too (ie your local engineer or inspector). That's a special circumstance if you want to pay for instruction, or have I got that wrong?

I'm getting paranoid about the loopholes insurance companies might look for at the moment.

You might like to use the LAA own instructors, via the Coaching scheme.

Jon Morris puts a lot of effort into the training and coaching section.

Click on Training/Coaching section and find a local instructor.

I'd be careful with insurance.
Your instructor pal may well be OK to fly your aircraft for his own purposes. But I'd make very sure your aircraft's own insurance covers the instructional situation. You're not going to be P1, so the 10 hours won't be a problem initially !

I have been reminded that Jon Cooke is the man who knows with the LAA PCS.
Worth mentioning insurance is an issue the LAA have taken on board, discuss this with Jon or the Coach for clarification.

Cheers guys, they wont insure me for the full hull cover until I have 50 tail wheel hours so for several months im going to be flying with just third party insurance, a risk im not prepared to take

Just spotted your post. The answer to your initial question is yes.

You may carry out remunerated differences training on a group owned aircraft with the Pilot Coaching Scheme.

Please contact me with your insurance details. It is unusual to include such a restriction unless the group are receiving a [small] discount.
