CAA Charges

Post by John Price » Wed Oct 05, 2011 9:30 am

Check out this link
http://www.caa.co.uk/default.aspx?catid ... ageid=8114

This is the list of new charges that the CAA want to enforce.

If you look at the personel licencing section you find that you will get lamped for £73 just to change your licence to an EASA one ( if you need it). Plus another £20 per rating.

I believe that the CAA said it would have to convert approx 35,000 licences thats an income stream of £2.5 million just for pushing 'print' on a computer program.

Its just extortion

Don't let them get away with it !

John,

I think you will find that is the fee for changing to or issuing an EASA licence at your request. If you already have a UK or JAR licence it will be "deemed" to be an EASA licence on the changeover date and when it is next up for renewal you will get an actual EASA licence instead. True you will have to pay for that renewal but once you are on an EASA licence it is valid for life so no more renewal fees.

The LAA did a lot of work commenting on the last but one CAA fees consultation but they ignored our input completely. So I have decided we will not waste our time doing that again. Basically the CAA can charge you whatever they decide but the increase this year is probably better than many other price hikes that will have dented your wallet!

Hi john I still think you will have to apply for an easa ticket a uk one will not become an easa ticket by right as I recall I believe you need to show an appreciation of vor/ndb navigation equip to be signed off by a cfi this wasn’t part of the ppl in ye oldy days. Also I have a lifetime ppl and in response to your answer if my licence was to become an easa licence on said date and would transfer on renewal! When would that be as it is a life time issue I also have a IMC on my ticket that will not go onto an easa licence I think that if you decide you will only fly annex two aircraft there is no issue just carry on but if you intend to fly annex one and two there is need to gain an easa ticket its a mine field and in response to the statement of caa charges I think I once herd that the caa is a non profit making org !!! All I can say is they must use some expensive printing paper and have a lot of ink cartridges to buy
