"Amy Johnson" airport in the Thames Estuary

Post by Joseph Cullen » Fri Nov 25, 2011 5:54 pm

Am I the only person who thinks that if a Thames Estuary airport ever gets built that it should be named after Amy Johnson? It would be highly appropriate for this brave pioneer to be remembered where she lost her life serving her country. If anyone else agrees could I suggest an email to Boris Johnson proposing the idea?

Why don't we call it HMS something or other and pretend it's our new carrier? That would save us billions 8)

Could be another Tory BIG BANG. Probably take out our Editor with it.
This idea would cause tremendous problems trying to make routes into Heathrow and Stansted In all probability it would stop all flying in the South East. Period.

As a born and bred islander, a genuine Sheppey swampy in fact, I have seen the Richard Montgomery 'danger' and the airport plan emerge on a regular basis for more years than I care to remember. When the papers have nothing better to write about they regurgitate one or other for a month or two but my guess is that the airport plan will sink beneath the waves again to keep the US bomb ship company just as soon as Boris finds something new to promote himself with.

It's a little known fact that our editor is in fact the King of Sheppey, true swampy royalty in fact, to be revered and wondered at (well some of us do wonder if truth be known).

My "best man" was from the Isle of Sheppey - since he and Brian are about the same age it would indeed be a small world if they knew each other.

There's a lot of goats on Sheppey Nigel, so the fight wouldn't have lasted long.
