Absolutely no offense taken Roger, I just wanted to make the point that I didn't just ring the CAA and speak to a nameless clerk but have been dealing with somebody of substance. Of course we do not yet know fully what the final outcome will be on some of the finer detail, and I hope I have made that clear in the article and in my posts, but April is not far away and people are rightly concerned where they will stand.

I am also in the position of having to pay £80 for an SEA rating, Brian, due to a clash with the date of my biannual flight test. But surely the option was there to extend the currency period of the old flight test in line with the slippage of dates over the introduction of the LAPL, or to reduce the rating fee. Anyway, that's enough carping from me.
Thanks for your work in finding out and presenting the licencing information so clearly. Wishing you a very happy return to flying in 2012.
