Medical changes

Post by G.Dawes » Sun Nov 10, 2013 8:05 pm

Now I have just been to a local AME with a view to get a medical to get back into the air after losing my CPL back in 1992. However All I wanted is to get a NPPL with solo flight privileges. This has ceased and he tell me that without a whole raft of medical test to prove my status I will not get A LAPL without a restriction of With Safety pilot only. It is perverse that one moment those disenfranchised souls like me get to fly again with the NPPL then because of a bullshit change of regulation authority it all goes away again. There must be a lot of happy pilots flying that are in for a serious shock, when they find they are banned again.
I want to know why all the huge costs of tests and then a restriction that leaves you back as a virtual passenger again but with a costly but useless licence and medical.
Does anyone want to buy a beautiful Jodel that I cannot fly myself in

Hi Graham, I am pretty well certain your AME is incorrect, the solo flight NPPL Medical Declaration is still available. Check out the NPPL website which has the relevant medical information. With your health record your GP may refer you to CAA but if you are OK to drive then there's every chance you can fly with an NPPL.

Graham,

Information about the NPPL Medical Declaration is here:

http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/33/SRG1204Iss08.pdf

The type of medical you would like is still available. If you need assistance please contact the LAA NPPL Medical Adviser whose email address is in the above document or on the NPPL website:

All the best,
