I am trying to renew my travel insurance, which also includes cover while flying in a light aircraft to near Europe (France/Belgium).
Either the policies contain stupid clauses like they won't cover me at all if I fly to France, then to an onwards destination.
However, it is okay if I take the ferry to France and then hire a light aircraft to fly in France.
Or, really stupid increases in premium compared with last year. More or less a 100% increase in premiums...
Do you have any tried and tested favourite insurance companies that you use?

Re: Travel insurance
I see you were flooded with replies.
I had a surf last year as the Traffords, who I have used for years, seemed to be very expensive.
I was about to hire and fly in the US and regularly fly across Europe with the wife.
I couldn't find anyone who was cheap enough to warrant changing and most clearly don't want the business.
Refreshing this post in case anyone has had success this year thus far?
My renewal is in late spring and I'll go looking a month before.
Regards, Clive

Re: Travel insurance
I was wrong there. After an E mail enquiry to Tracey at Traffords earlier today, a swift reply came in from Greg explaining that Traffords have a couple of other underwriters and are doing GA covered travel insurance as usual.
So, please ignore my previous though the discussion on Flyer forum is probably worth a look.

Re: Travel insurance
Clive,
Your experience seems similar to mine.
Some companies do provide such cover but it is proving very expensive, when compared to the cover I have had for the past 12 months.
Yes, Traffords are now using a new underwriter so it is possible to get cover via them.

Re: Travel insurance
Competition is the key. As we know the risk isn’t much higher for flying than any other holiday.
My mistake last year was not realising I needed US cover when I took the policy out.
One poster on the Flyer thread mentioned a good deal with JS so I’ll pursue a quote with them.
