Carlsberg don't resolve CAS infringements, but if they did..

The latest airspace infringement is out on FlyOnTrack, and no, it's not doom and gloom, it's more "how it should be" if there is an accidental infringement. A lot of money, effort and ideas of the past two years or so come together in one incident.

Not wanting to bother anyone for a service or fill the airwaves, the pilot has tuned into Luton Approach 129.550 MHz, not said anything, but is just listening in, and showing the Luton Listening Squawk of '0013' in case Luton wish to contact him for any reason. The pilot has also selected Mode C (ALT) to help the TCAS in commercial traffic and the controllers have an idea of how high he is.

The pilot now climbs too early, not noticing the base of the Luton CTA is 3500' around the Henton NDB . 'CAIT', the new software for spotting infringements, alerts the controller by turning the 'return' to purple on the radar screen as soon as the infringement occurs....

SO ... what happened? Airprox? Court case?, suspended licence?.... errr.. no, nothing like that, it was all sorted out in about 30 seconds with no drama or follow up. Watch for yourself. Go to http://www.flyontrack.co.uk and click on the radar head.
