Sorry you couldn't make it Rod.
I came up from Fairoaks, arriving just after 1pm. By the time I departed at 14:40, about 20 permit aircraft had booked in. The only name I recognised was John Dean. Sadly, he departed before I could find him to say hello.
I talked to several pilots that were LAA members. They were aware of the fly-in from the BB. The weather appears to have been the major deterrent today.
I was able to get Basic Service for all of the journey except the 10 miles in/out of Fenland. Broke through the clag at FL40 on the way back but had to get back in it to pass between Stansted and Luton. I was also able to get my first SVFR through the Heathrow Zone, routing Denham, Burnham, Ascot and direct Fairoaks. This saved about 20 mins flying time compared to going around the west of the zone.
So, for me, a very good day out. My thanks to JC, Fenland and all the ATSUs along the way.
