Hi Tony,

If you were going from (say) Farthing Corner to Le Touquet with an alternate of Calais, the addresses would be:-

EGMFZTZX Farthing Corner
LFATZTZX Le Touquet
LFACZTZX Calais
EGZYVFRT London FIR
EGZYVFLF French FIR
LFATZPZX Le Touquet (because France is different!)
LFACZPZX Calais Alt (because France is different!)

If you were going to Abbeville instead of Le Touquet, the addresses would be LFOIZTZX and LFOIZPZX. Interestingly, when you address to Abbeville you get a reply saying it couldn't be delivered but it doesn't seem to matter.

Hope that helps a bit. It's a lot easier when using AFPeX as there is an interactive help system.

Thanks John. I have not been able to get AFPeX to work on my PC, I fill the form in and press submit and just get a blank screen. I have faxed my details to Swanick, yet to get a reply.

Could you say what I would write if I fly from a strip, i.e. no airfield designator ?

If you are flying from an airstrip without a designator, I would suggest that you use the same addresses but omitting the departure one.

Not sure this is the correct way of doing it but there seems little point in trying to send a flight plan to somewhere without an address. A bit like sending a blank envelope in the post!

I also originally had problems getting the application form to work. As I understand it, it's supposed to create an email using your default email client. I use Linux Ubuntu and Thunderbird and in order to get it to work I had to fire up the old Windows and Outlook Express system.

Thanks, that makes sense.

I ask because I dread getting airborne for France one fine day, asking London Infor. to activate my flight plan only to be told it has not been accepted. (Thinks, wonder if that should be 'London Basic' now).
