Sywell Revival Event – 5th and 6th September 2009 Bulletin 3

Update:
As of the 27th August, there are over 450 aircraft booked to fly into Sywell for the Revival. If the weather looks good, we anticipate many more booking too. The slot system allows 1 per minute, so there should be plenty of availability. Both the concrete and grass runways are available, and there’s plenty of grass for parking. Arrivals from Friday onwards.

30 exhibitors have now booked for the LAA Centre, with aircraft, accessories, offers, displays and workshops. The main 120’x40’ marquee will be crammed with goodies, but we’re hoping there will be some space for a few tables and chairs for you to discuss LAA activity with the team.

The engineers will be running a clinic, plus displaying the ghoulish ‘black’ museum of parts. Pilot coaching has a desk, so you can discuss getting that bi-annual sorted, strip conversion, or even just tidy up your landing technique. The ever popular courses have a series of explanatory introductions / workshops and of course, membership services will be there with copies of the latest magazine and joining pack at a special LAA Revival rate of £39 for the year. Bargain.

Saturday evening there’s a large bar in ‘Hangar 1’, with hog roast, followed by the LAA aircraft awards.

The LAA awards include:
BEST PLANS BUILT AIRCRAFT
BEST KIT BUILT AIRCRAFT
BEST VINTAGE AIRCRAFT (Factory Built to December 1946)
BEST CLASSIC AIRCRAFT (Factory Built to December 1965)
BEST CLASSIC HOMEBUILT
MOST MERITORIOUS ARRIVAL BY AIR

There’s a band until late, so eat drink and be merry. The hotel has long since filled, but camping is free and there are many hotels and B&Bs in the area.

We’re anticipating one of the best aviation events of the year and at just £5 entry, Sywell are offering one of the best value too. Kids under 5 are free, kids 5-13 £2.50. Aircraft and all occupants £10.

Sywell tell us there will be airside access, with safety sense information being provided to all and safety marshalls on standby.

We hope you can make the event and look forward to welcoming you over the 5th and 6th September.
