ideal cheap bike to fold up and put in the plane

I looked for quite a while before buying a used Dahon which I am pleased with but it cost quite a bit more. If you want something like a Brompton expect to pay a lot more.

The trouble is that bikes are a bit like aeroplanes - there's no such thing as a good, cheap one. If you buy a Brompton nothing else folds as small, the ride is OK and you'll still be smiling every time you use it after 10 years and 10000 miles...
