Following discussions between Elstree and Flexwing repersentatives we can allow flexwings into the flyin this Sunday 5th July.
The following is the agreement, please use this opportunity we have all been to hell and back for this so if I see less than 100 flex wings attend and eat all my burgers I will have further words.
Picture a plague of locusts and I will be happy.
Here are the rules,
all aircraft are to have two way radio contact with elstree, no radio no come.
All aircraft are to have ppr through me at [email protected] giving aircraft registration and type.
aircraft are to arrive in blocks the same as last year.
1000-1030
1130-1200
1245-1315
aircraft are not to arrive at any other times.
landing fees will be £5.00
Look carefully at Pooleys and make sure you understand the approch. Its a long four mile run any you will need to mix with ALL other types of aircraft and be considerate towards their speeds too.
We have all done our absolute best to ALL aviation, please do show you care by attending!!!
I wait to greet you all on the day.
connecting LAA and BMAA together.

Very good effort Kelvin, well done! I've only just picked this thread up again and had a quick read through to remind myself what was going on.
To add my two 'pennorth; I'm actually astonished that we still have discussions about microlight v GA, flex-wing v 3-Axis! The differences between GA and Microlight 3-axis has greyed into insignificance and flex-wing speeds are now right up there with quite a few GA types.
I was luck enough to transfer from my initial GA flying (in Spam Cans) to Microlight (Shadows), then to a Streak (homebuilt) and back to a vintage taildragger. ALL very useful experience. I agree that Microlighters are a very adventurous group and show an enthusiasm for the air that shames a lot of Spam Canners. Certainly my appetite for travelling far and wide was gained from belonging to the very active Shadow Owners Club.
My log book shows a total in excess of 30 channel crossings - 3 in metal GA, 12 in my Streak Shadow, the rest in my T'Craft!
It would be nice not to have to even see this discussion in future!

The spam cans still win hands down on weight lift. So far all have looked at my 120 kilo/ 6' 7inch and gone....no no no sorry no.
But, I am ok in my little piper.
I would very much like to explore using a microlight but at the moment I have to stick to my PA28 until somebody makes a high lift version.
If Bob is still reading this thread and still looking for that one extra vote to tip the balence. I will vote it and I say come to Elstree.
Cheers,
Kelvin

A little off topic, but at the European gliding championships here in Slovakia, we have microlight tow planes and turbine Smelacs side by side. The 850kg gliders do not tow behind the (Eurofox, sub 450kg) microlights, but the 600kg gliders do and it works a treat.
The Smelacs are awesome - the closet to a winch launch on an aerotow that's possible!
As lightweight aircraft develop, the edges will be inclreasingly blurred.
Flex, weightshift, light, heavy, engine, glider. Who cares so long as we're having fun?
Cheers
Pete Harvey
