Looks like I may have not worded the initial post particularly well. So just to clear up any misunderstanding.

The first series production of 912iS engines are going to be intended for aircraft manufacturers only.
We continue to work with Rotax to improve the installation documentation which I am sure you will appreciate needs some refinement.
At this stage it is necessary to limit the installations to experienced (Qualified) engine installers such as OEM’s (aircraft manufacturers).

We fully support the LAA system & have every intension of offering this engine to kit builders in the future, in fact the first example in the UK has been installed in an LAA aircraft under Francis Donaldson’s supervision.

Only non certified engines are currently available. The certified version (which is exactly the same) is undergoing EASA approval & will hopefully follow later in the year.

Thanks for clearing that up Conrad, I'm sure the new engine will be another huge success for Rotax. I look forward to seeing the first installations and hearing feedback from owners on fuel consumption and performance characteristics compared to the 912S.

Well done Conrad for the explanation. Is the new engine a true FADEC or is it with manual override ie. an ECU?
