Automatic Log-in

Post by JohnMead » Mon Mar 03, 2008 10:14 am

Despite ticking the box when I log on , the system will not log me on at next visit. Anyone else have the same experience?

Just an observation, I may be telling you something you already know, in which case, sorry. If your browser is stopping cookies from the website, the automatic log-in will never work as far as I know.

The automatic log-in now works for me since I corrected this on my computer.

OK, help needed.

My home PC won't allow me to stay logged in, my laptop will !

Where do we change the settings to allow the use of cookies please ?

Another, related thread here - I get emails from my company and they say they have attatchments, when you look at the properties, the email contains several hundred Kb's which shows something is there, but it doesn't show an attachment anywhere ..............

Only affects company emails, all the dross I get from my mates is easily seen !

Several of us are affected - do we have any computer whizzes who may be able to solve the missing attachment problem.

Mike,
Tools, Internet Options, Privacy - set slider to medium/low and try to log in again. Worked for me.

It doesn't work the way my BB works. Here I have to click the 'log in' on the start page and then on the password request page. I don't actually type anything out.

It seems to be a problem with other BB's as well. See here

I run a dual boot system on the desktop with XP and Ububtu Linux. Both O/S use Firefox but under Ubuntu I have to log in to the Flyer BB every time I access it.

No doubt it is a setting somewhere on my system that's at fault but I haven't been able to discover where.

One thing I've noticed is that if I visit the BB from a different computer to the one I last used then the auto login does not work. I think that's a feature of PHPBB. Not complaining, just offering an explanation.

Edit:- I take it all back, I lied
Even though I've told it to log me in automatically on each visit it doesn't. (Security is set to default in IE6)

Setting the security doesn't affect things. As others have commented - my laptop keeps me logged in, my PC doesn't. Both have the same system on them and I am not aware of any settings differences.

Brought to the top for further suggestions please.

I have a similar problem in that my home PC requires me to log in TWICE before I am recognised! My machine at work logs me in automatically. The All Weather Map forum website logs me in automatically on both computers. I don't recollect any problems with the old BB.
