Yes, congratulations to Peter for winning. I wonder if he was one of the 50 or so gliders I passed going back to Hinton from Popham on Sunday late afternoon! They were everywhere! I stayed as high as I could, above the scattered clouds to keep out of the way!
On another note a friend (who was a member but left after the cancellation of the rally two years ago) asked me to post this regarding Lasham
"Lasham's attidude to aircraft enthusiasts airside is appaling. At the breifing each day, they actually end up with a bit about spotters asking all glider pilots to look out for anyone who they think might be an enthusiast and escort them off the airfield back to the car park."
This would seem to be a bit excessive, why not make friends and encourage the enthusiasts, yes if one is doing something unsafe then move them on, but most are only looking or taking photos, not causing anyone any harm. After all there are always lots of other people wandering around like family members and other hangars on. Thankfully most gliding clubs have a much better friendly attitude towards enthusiasts.
