Post by Nigel Hitchman » Mon Mar 29, 2010 7:52 pm

a friend of mine just found this

http://belfast.gumtree.com/belfast/10/56204610.html

looks in reasonable condition in the photos, hasnt flown for years (if it ever did fly, no permit on g-info, but it was on the Irish register for a while)

maybe a good project for someone...

I've copied the details to the FRED website on Yahoo. Hopefully someone will bite.

Cheers

This aircraft was built by Richard Yates and attended a couple of Sywell Rallies. Was one of the nicest Freds built. Obviously a lot can happen since the mid 70's.

If any Fred would have won or been in contention for best homebuilt this was the aircraft. It had a neat curved rudder and it appears to be in the same colours as originally built.

It has a 1300 engine ... did it fly with that? FRED's usually need 1600 at the very least, most have 1834's.

G-INFO shows it has having a 1500 VW, which would still be a bit short of puff.

Be nice to see someone (Ivan??) take it on for a rebuild.

You might need to be a bit quick!

Not me, you understand, but there has been quite a bit of interest!

PS Does anyone have a spare 1835 for sale?

Small world, isn't it.

How is the 'new' FRED coming on, Ian? Have you got any pics?

When are you going to fly your FRED?
Oooooh. You really know when to hit a man when he's down!

Hmmmmm. How is the runway looking at Perranporth? :D
I'm never going to get it done without help.

Well, someone has bought it but the vendor isn't a man of many words. He hasn't responded to my request for any details of the purchaser.
