Can't say I see it this way.

Although the EASA NPA which you may have seen allowed a GP to carry out a medical review as per NPPL, EASA have changed it in the final document so your GP must have aeromedical training and conduct an examination and sign a certificate saying you are fit to fly as pilot. You can find this document under EASA CDR here as CRD 2008 17D

First any GP with aeromedical training will be an AME (guess who put this in then) and no GP would carry out an examination and issue the certificate demanded. Busted flush comes to mind.

The BGA has the lead on challenging this with the aim of getting back to a GP review and applicant declaration.
