Hacked

What is happening to the forum?
I was under the impression that only registerd members could post messages, but it would appear that spoof names are not only able to register, but also post. Are the shields down :)

They've obviously found the back door to phpBB now - my own car club forum is getting sporadic clothing offers - but we haven't got any sporads to benefit from it.

At least we haven't had the gratuitous porn pictures yet.

I've just had an email offering upgrades to a secure version 3.0.8, so I guess LAA will have had similar.

IIRC the LAA software is well out of date. There was an attempt to update it, but that failed due to the complexity of the site. Sooner or later they will have to bite the bullet and do something.

We're back to the problem that whoever set up the site put these 'orrible non-standard add ons in it - like the menu on the left. Never liked that as it eats screen 'real-estate' for no worthwhile benefit, and it doesn't even work elegantly as it stays attached to the top of the window and disappears as you scroll down.

Ditch the pointless customisation and upgrade the security to the standard other sites enjoy.

OK - rant over.

For now, anyway!
